FSG have sold nearly a third of Liverpool — and Jeff Bezos is in
A consortium led by Amit Bhatia has bought roughly 30% of the club at a $6bn valuation. Fenway keep control — for now.
Fenway Sports Group has agreed the sale of a minority equity stake in Liverpool to 1892 Holdings, a consortium led and managed by Amit Bhatia, in a deal that values the club at roughly $6bn.
The stake is understood to be worth about 30 per cent. FSG retain majority ownership and, they were careful to stress, operational control.
Who is buying
1892 Holdings brings together several distinct pools of money: Bhatia himself alongside the Mittal Family Trusts; K5 Sports, whose lead investor is Jeff Bezos; and EE Capital, the family office of Elaine and Eduardo Saverin.
That is an unusual coalition even by the standards of modern football ownership — steel, technology and one of the founding shareholders of Facebook, arriving together in a single vehicle.
What changes
Officially, very little. FSG describe the investors as partners who will work alongside existing leadership to “evaluate opportunities” on and off the pitch. In practice, a 30 per cent shareholder at a $6bn valuation is not a silent one, and the arrival of this much outside capital during a summer in which Liverpool have spent heavily is not a coincidence anyone needs help joining up.
It is also not FSG’s first minority sale — Dynasty Equity took a smaller stake in 2023 — but it is by some distance the largest.
Announced by Fenway Sports Group on 14 August 2026. Consortium composition and valuation per FSG’s statement and subsequent reporting.
