Yankuba Minteh remains under consideration at Liverpool as the alternative to Ismaila Sarr, according to reporting on the eve of deadline day, with Brighton so far unmoved.
The framing matters. Minteh is not a replacement for Sarr in Liverpool’s thinking so much as the second name on a list of two, both of whom solve the same problem and neither of whom is available cheaply.
The same gap
Liverpool have spent the summer assembling a forward line — Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, now Bradley Barcola — without addressing the right side specifically. Minteh, quick and direct, is a more natural width option there than anything currently in the building.
The obstacle
Brighton, like Palace, are described in reporting as showing no signs of budging. Selling clubs hold most of the cards in the last 48 hours of a window, and both know it.
Whether Liverpool land either before Tuesday night is genuinely unresolved.
