Eduardo Camavinga is expected to stay at Real Madrid past Tuesday’s deadline despite sustained interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, according to reporting through the summer.
The obstacle is not money. Real Madrid have been described as willing to sanction a departure at around €60m to fund business elsewhere, and United have been waiting on a signal from Madrid rather than haggling over a fee.
The player decides
Camavinga, whose contract runs to 2029, does not want to end a five-year stay at the Bernabéu. That is the whole of it. A transfer requires three parties to agree and this one has two.
What it costs Madrid
Keeping him is not a problem — it is a €60m hole in a summer in which the club has spent heavily, including a reported €140m on Yan Diomandé. It also leaves a midfield that has not been reduced, in a squad José Mourinho has just described as closed.
